Home, Church, and School Renovations
If you have a knack for any trade skills including plumbing, electrical, roofing, concrete work, framing, etc. this is the project for you. The upkeep of buildings is not commonplace in Sierra Leone. Of course locals notice this and are very upset, but there is no government support for community upkeep. Unless locals themselves pay for renovation materials and perform the labor, their hospitals, schools, and churches slowly crumble over time.
Many organizations only want to build the beautiful new school. But when it’s time to renovate it, they are silent. Renovations don’t sell on social media like building a new school does.
If you are a contractor or tradesman, you will have the opportunity to showcase your skills on the renovation, and educate local tradesmen to do the same. The goal of development is always sustainability. By teaching local tradesmen, more renovations can be done in the future; even in your absence.
Renovating a church, school, or health center is a rewarding way to impact hundreds of lives at the same time.
